Bridal Alterations The Dress

High end alterations. Take wedding dresses apart and reconstruct them to perfectly fit the bride-to-be. There’s a lot going on in those dresses. Requires precision sewing and symmetrical adjustments. Knowledge of fine fabrics and materials, various stitches, and garment construction. Make sure everything looks perfect OR ELSE!

Occasionally help with dress sales. Narrow the selection of potential dresses based on wedding atmosphere and which style best suits their body type. Help brides-to-be in and out of dresses. Gently guide them through the decision-making process by highlighting a number of factors and pointing them towards their best match.

Course content deals with a variety of visual communication design problems related to the community, society, industry, commerce, and advertising. Volunteer for non-profit music venue. Provide hospitality to attendees either in concessions or the beer garden. And then we get to see the last 30 minutes of the show!

SeamstressMemorial Blankets

November 2011 – Present
Santa Barbara, California

Transform clothing from the deceased and create memorial blankets for the surviving loved ones. Survivors provide the clothing and I provide the batting and additional fabric. I hand sew custom blankets which memorialize and celebrate the lost life. This is independent volunteer work. To complete each blanket I volunteer about 30 hours in labor and $50 in materials.
